Forty-eight hours before leaving the nation of origin, passengers must show a valid negative COVID-19 PCR test result. Again, they will be subject to free COVID-19 testing upon arrival at Kotoka International Airport (KIA).
A genuine negative COVID-19 PCR test result must be presented 48 hours before departure from the place of origin for all passengers traveling from destinations other than China, whether vaccinated or not.
Non-Ghanaians arriving at KIA with counterfeit or phony vaccination certificates will be quarantined and sent back at their own cost. Passengers may also be randomly chosen and administered tests upon arrival.
Similarly, it stated that every arriving passenger would undergo a temperature check, verify their Yellow Fever Card, and confirm their COVID-19 immunization certificate. Children below 18 years are exempt from the mandated immunization, according to the GACL.
It said that everyone traveling in Ghana fully immunized would be free from any testing conducted before boarding from the country of origin or upon arrival in Ghana, except travelers from China.
In the meantime, the KIA has warned that $3500 additional fees will be applied to airlines that bring in travelers who are not entirely immunized or traveling from China without a valid negative COVID-19 PCR test result 48 hours before departure.
To completely comply with the COVID-19 testing requirements in the destination nations, travelers transiting and transferring through KIA will be expected to do so.
These rules are part of the steps to ensure that there isn't a spike in instances in the nation.
