Jacob Atari Albano, the area commissioner, commended the security agencies and the traditional chief for capturing the suspects. According to Atari, the attackers were apprehended on Sunday and are currently held in Torit custody.
He claimed the police are investigating the accused in-laws to see what happened at the ceremony. The incident happened on April 24 in Lowoi Payam, Torit County, between the Ohirai and Ohilo settlements.
The commissioner claims that there was a dispute between the two families. The amount the groom would pay for his wife could not be agreed upon. The girl's family intended to adopt the former regulations' 35-cow threshold as the upper age limit for children.
However, the man's family insisted that since the old youth group limit had expired, the old rule could not still be in effect. As required by law, they preferred to pay 25 cows as an alternative.
After the argument, Atari continued; both families hurried home to get their weapons, only to come back and start shooting randomly. As soon as the incident occurred, police and security personnel were sent to the scene to quell rising tensions and prevent retaliation attacks.
Atari explained that it was thanks to Joseph Alfred, our chief in Lowoi North, and the security that they could reach him and inform him that 20 people were being carried to Torit.

Although the two in-laws share the same culture and social mores as the Otuho community, the commissioner claimed that tension between them still exists despite the arrest.
